PIKEVILLE, Ky. — In anticipation of Hurricane Irma, the University of Pikeville and Ave Maria (Fla.) football programs have decided to postpone Saturday’s game in Pikeville to Friday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. ET at the Hambley Athletic Complex.
Concerns about safe travel for the Gyrenes, as well as the Ave Maria campus deciding to cancel classes on Thursday through Monday, made it the best decision to not play the game this weekend. Ave Maria is giving its students the chance to travel to shelter with their families.
With the change in schedule, UPIKE will now take this as its bye week with next Saturday’s home game against Kentucky Christian still scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
